The Lindeboom Chair for Medical Ethics
In the Dutch academic system, societal groups and organizations may propose universities to establish so-called 'special chairs' for scholarship exploring their particular interests. These chairs offer elective courses, open to any student. So, too, the Lindeboom Institute has its own chair for Christian medical ethics, at the Medical Faculty of the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.
First professor to hold this chair was Dr Jochem Douma (1994-1998). Since his retirement in 1998, the chair has been held by Dr Henk Jochemsen, former director of the Lindeboom Instituut till 2009.
The Lindeboom Institute also supports the special chair in Reformational Philosophy at the University of Leiden, held by Dr Gerrit Glas, MD, professor of philosophy and ethics of medicine.
The work of the Lindeboom Institute is made possible by proceeds of its publications, of compensations for research assignments, donations, legacies, and so on.
